I personally donated to Planned Parenthood last summer when Congress was trying to take away Title X funds (they did), and support them entirely as they take care of the full spectrum of women’s health. Don’t be fooled by Komen’s doublespeak: this was a blatantly political maneuver to please the burgeoning number of wealthy social conservatives that have been donating to the organization, and press the attack against Planned Parenthood, which they negate by trivializing its contributions to women’s health, referring to it as a “pro-abortion” group. The Komen organization has been hijacked by puritanical corporatists for their own political and economic agenda, and I will not stand for that.
